The computers left Japan and arrived in Kenya in early October. They are now being carefully tended to as we work with our Kenyan partners to begin installation. What we are doing now:
ICT4Tomorrow Project
We are currently working on the ICT4Tomorrow project in Western Kenya. The project goal is to place community ICT and multimedia centers in rural communities. The centers will provide rural communities with first access to computers and other information technology. The centers will also host classes, training workshops and intercultural exchange programs, designed and implemented by Sambaza Group in collaboration with trained academics and professionals throughout the world. >>more
Maseno University, ICT and Community Extension Center
We are still fundraising for the Sambaza Group ICT monitoring and community extension center, to be located on the campus of Maseno University, centrally located in Western Kenya. The center will provide facilities for computer maintenaance, refurbishing and environmentally safe disposal. The center represents the first site dedicated to academic collaboration between rural Kenya and Japan, as well as the first time that a research institute devoted to rural Kenya has been located on the ground at the site of the challenge. >>more
